Story: A woman who accepts her boyfriends marriage proposal is invited to her aunts home for Christmas and develops romantic feelings for an inn owner.

As Christmas approaches, Paula (Sustad), a St. Louis antique appraiser, reluctantly accepts a marriage proposal from her boyfriend, Daniel (Giles Panton, Chesapeake Shores), a career-focused attorney. When her Aunt Jane (Gifford) senses she has mixed emotions over the engagement, she invites Paula to her Nantucket home. Upon her arrival, Paula plans a trip to the nearby island of Marthas Vineyard where she meets Gery (Campbell), a charming inn owner. When bad weather prevents her from departing, Paula winds up staying at Gerys inn and enjoying local holiday festivities alongside him. They begin to have feelings for each other but when the weather clears up, they part ways and Paula returns to Nantucket. Sensing shes fallen for Gery, Aunt Jane shares with Paula her belief that their meeting was Gods way of "winking" at her to help determine which direction her life should take. When Daniel surprises her by spontaneously arriving in Nantucket, Paula decides to move forward with their marriage plans. But back in St. Louis, Daniel soon returns to his all-business ways and a fed-up Paula finally realizes theyre not compatible. Paula Mayer, who graduated with a degree in History, works as an appraiser for Bishops Auction Co. in St. Louis, although she has an unrealized and somewhat scary dream of owning her own antiques shop where she can be more involved in getting to know the stories behind the pieces with which she is dealing. In the lead up to Christmas, Paula accepts the marriage proposal from her lawyer boyfriend Daniel OBrian, but something doesnt feel quite right and she doesnt know why, leading to her writer Aunt Jane inviting her to stay with her for the weekend in Nantucket so that they can figure it out together. There is a last minute change of plans when Paula arrives in Nantucket as Jane has some work with which to deal, she sending Paula off on her own to Marthas Vineyard, where shes never been, for the day. In what ends up being Paulas slightly extended stay on the island, she seems constantly to run into and be assisted by Gery Conover, who, in addition to his community volunteer work, most specifically for the islands youth center, owns the Charlotte Inn, which he himself renovated to its former glory. Through their time together, Paula and Gery end up making a human connection. They both have to decide how far they can take that connection. For Gery, he has to overcome past heartache which originally brought him to Marthas Vineyard. For Paula, she has to figure out if her current doubts about Daniel are just cold feet or if there is something more substantial to those doubts. Aunt Jane, who believes that God is winking at Paula and Gery, feels that she and some friends, who may be able to see the situation more clearly, will have to give God a little help in the matter.
