In eighteenth century England, Captain George Bryan "Beau" Brummell is an upper-class dandy. He has to leave the Army after having insulted the Prince of Wales. This gives him the opportunity to start a smear campaign against the Prince. The Prince, who is tired of all of the yes-men around him, hires him as his chief advisor.
Army Captain George Bryan "Beau" Brummell manages the unlikely feat of insulting the Prince of Wales and then being befriended by him. Brummell leaves the Army and becomes the Princes friend and beneficiary. Brummell makes a name for himself with his stylishness, becoming the tastemaker for all of Europe. But another insult costs him the Princes good graces, and Brummells future prospects plummet. Only the love of Lady Patricia seems likely to rescue him from disaster.
