The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bobs Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their familys restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong.

With only seven short days to make the monthly payment on their business loan, Bob and Linda Belcher find themselves with their backs to the wall during the last week of school. And as if that werent enough--with Tina, Gene, and Louise getting ready for the summer vacation--the small burger joint suffers another blow. Now, a deep, massive sinkhole in front of the familys restaurant makes it difficult to attract clients, thwarting the couples plans to bounce back. But as the news of the bottomless pit spreads like wildfire, its up to the kids to unravel a years-old local mystery before the situation spins out of control.
