Story: In post-WW2 Britain, a young woman marries an old flame but after he disappears, and is later declared dead, she re-marries, only to be blackmailed by the supposedly-dead first husband who suddenly re-appears in her life, in need of money.

A young bride believes her husband has been killed. After a suitable period of mourning, she re-marries. But then her "dead" husband comes back and tries to extort money from her.

In postwar Britain, artist Judith ends her relationship with a young doctor when her more dashing wartime boyfriend Bill Brennan reappears. When she becomes pregnant they marry but he disappears at once, finding she has no money. She seeks help from the doctor and their friendship resumes. When the papers report her husband to be dead they marry, but Brennan is very much alive and ready to prove what a complete scoundrel he really is.
