Story: Francis Barclay, a former member of the British Admiralty, who was captured in the early 1700s and sold into slavery by Andrew MacAllister, and forced into piracy, enlists the aid of Dick Lindsay, to help him invade MacAllisters fortified island. The latter falls in love with MacAllisters daughter Christine. In 1728, while hunting ducks, Dick Lindsay comes across a pirate named Francis Barclay burying a treasure-chest. Barclay and his lieutenant, Burford, take Lindsay prisoner aboard their ship, the Black Panther. Barclay decides to use Lindsay to infiltrate the fortified island of his bitter enemy, Andrew MacAllister. (Twenty-one years ago MacAllister abducted Barclays wife and daughter and sold Barclay into slavery.) Barclay has a scar burned into Lindsays face so that hell resemble MacAllisters nephew. Barclay then arranges for Lindsay to be washed up on MacAllisters island. MacAllister, who hasnt seen his nephew for 20 years, accepts Lindsays false identity. However, while Lindsay is supposed to pave the way for Barclays invasion of the island, he becomes sidetracked by a rebellion among MacAllisters slaves and by his growing attraction to MacAllisters beautiful daughter, Christine.
