During a 24-hour holiday truce amid the Battle of the Bulge, American army captain John Myers (Craig Olejnik) and a Belgian girl named Alina (Ali Liebert) meet and fall in love. Separated during the Battle of the Bulge, an American captain (Craig Olejnik) and the Belgian woman (Ali Liebert) he loves vow to reunite on the first Christmas Eve after the end of World War II.

Wereth, Belgium, December 1944, a few days before Christmas. Native Brit Alina Hammond, who has lived there with her Belgian mother Helena Hammond ever since they were caught there unexpectedly at the onset of the war, has decided on behalf of the town once again to cancel the traditional Christmas Eve celebrations, most specifically because of the current occupation of the Ardennes by a German offensive (which is now known historically as the Battle of the Bulge). Secretly parachuting into the region in what was an emergency evacuation of their plane under attack is a small team of four partly on an Allied bombing mission of a bridge in Dasburg - a key transportation route for the Nazis - led by US Captain John Myers. That mission hits a snag when one of the four, Private Jensen, is injured upon landing, probably with a broken leg, Myers who refuses to abandon any of his men. Against Helenas wants, Alina decides they should take in the four until Jensen is well enough to be moved, this decision at her and her mothers possible peril if the Allied soldiers are discovered by the Nazis. Against her mothers warning about taking up with a soldier, Helena preferring Alina to end up with someone stable like Peter the local butcher who Alina does not even remotely love, Alina and Myers start to fall for each other, Alina who would rather have one day of true love than a lifetime of nothing special. In the throes of their feelings for each other, Myers vows to keep Alina safe. However, he, on the spur of the moment based on the tenuousness of the situation, takes a chance on short term safety at the possible longer term risk to Alina, Helena and the townsfolk by calling a truce of fighting for Christmas. As such, Myers may not be able to keep to his vow in the long term, especially as both the Allied forces and the Nazis may not care what he has negotiated for this local situation, and as there is no guarantee what will happen after the official truce is over at the end of Christmas despite the Christmas spirit fostered between the opposing factions during the truce.
