Story: Two Boston area detectives investigate a little girls kidnapping, which ultimately turns into a crisis both professionally and personally.

When 4 year old Amanda McCready disappears from her home and the police make little headway in solving the case, the girls aunt Beatrice McCready hires two private detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro. The detectives freely admit that they have little experience with this type of case, but the family wants them for two reasons - theyre not cops and they know the tough Boston neighborhood in which they all live. As the case progresses, Kenzie and Gennaro face drug dealers, gangs and pedophiles. When they are about to solve their case, they are faced with a moral dilemma that could tear them apart.

Patrick, a blue collar punk PI with very little education and no law enforcement experience and Angie, his more refined and realistic girlfriend get involved in a child kidnapping case, which goes badly. Patrick commits murder for a good cause but he wants it all his way: he refuses to learn from his many mistakes and sheer lack of knowledge. Soon, good (and bad) men are dead or behind bars and families are destroyed. Angie is forced to leave Patrick because the concept: best interest of the child becomes so much more than the sum of the words to her.
