Story: When a journalist returns to the California farming community where she was raised, she discovers that it has been ravaged by drought and become a place ruled by gangs.

When whip-smart New York City reporter Emma Gardner learns of her fathers untimely death, she returns to her hometown to find that the idyllic farming community of her childhood has been ravaged by drought and become a place tormented by gangs and the ill effects of extreme poverty. She quickly figures out that her dads accidental death was not accidental at all. The lists of possible suspects include overzealous environmentalists, a local warlord, and other farmers jealous of her fathers outstanding reputation.

In the wake of her fathers death, an ambitious New York journalist (Annabelle Stephenson) returns to the California farm town where she was raised. However, the community is no longer as idyllic as she remembers, but a dry and dangerous land taken over by gangs and violence. What begins as a trip to pay her respects turns into an investigation into her fathers demise as she sets out to discover the ugly truth about her changing hometown.
