Carly Mason is a successful Los Angeles based bridal stylist, celebrities among her clients. While the design aspect is her favorite part of the process, she has resisted the temptation to convert her business model to being a full time designer in not wanting to be front and center as would be required, she preferring to stay in the background to let her clients shine on their day without her name taking over. After her latest celebrity wedding in Mexico, her best friend and former college roommate Sydney Carlton invites her for a spa getaway at the lodge she manages, the upscale Marin Woods Lodge outside San Francisco. The reason for the invitation - in part to help Carly get over her last boyfriend, Liam, with who she often still works in his role as a wedding photographer - is coincidentally aided by what Sydney considers fate. Two of their college dorm acquaintances, Andrea and Jason, are there at the same time for their wedding. Carly and Sydney were not part of their social group more by circumstance, the reason why Carly was not invited to the wedding itself. In Sydneys mind, the most important wedding guest is Matt Harper, Carlys college crush, the two who almost once dated near the end of their college years, but the timing being bad for that never to have happened. A spark of attraction still exists between Carly and Matt if either is willing to act on that spark at least to have that date that never happened. Also helping this situation along is the lodges sous chef, Nick Rivera, who can see what is happening between Carly and Matt from the sidelines. Like Carly, Nick has his own so far unrealized dreams, his to become the chef de cuisine at the lodge taking over from Edward, a my way or the high way kind of man whose taste palette is stuck in the last century. Nick would like to incorporate aspects of his Filipino heritage into the food which Edward will not even consider. As Carly and Nick encourage the other to shoot for their professional dreams, Carly may come to a realization that this getaway was indeed fate, with Matt only being a small part of it not even directly related to her.
