Story: Rachel tries to save a small towns library from being turned into a resort and turns to Jake, a writer, for help.

Appraiser Rachel (Lindsey Shaw) receives the news that her top-notch client wants to buy out a small towns beloved library to build a resort and spa on the land. Rachel is completely against the idea of leaving NYC but loses the argument to her boss, so Rachel packs her bags and flies out to California. During her first visit to the library she runs into writer Jake (Derek Theler), who is researching the tale of Captain Black Barts hidden treasures for his next novel. With hopes of saving the library, Mrs. Archer (Rachel Ticotin), the librarian, pushes Jake to show Rachel what the library means to the town. Jakes already got a lot on his plate with his research and taking care of his niece Hailey (Chiara Aurelia) and nephew Noah (Max Page) for the summer but he agrees to help. As Rachel learns what the library means to the community, she must find a way to save it before its too late.

Traveling, adventurous author Jakes latest research into the non-violent robber Captain Black Barts hidden treasures brings him to a small California town, notably its nerve center: the stately old library, seat of the historical society. For the summer he agrees to look after his nephew Noah, whos interested in that subject, and his niece Hailey (who digs the local general stores boy clerk), while his estranged brother and sister-in-law, who promised the kids a holiday in Italy, once more concentrate on running the family business Jake deserted for his own dream. Librarian Annie Archer desperately asks handsome Jake to try his boyish nerd-friendly charms on Rachel, whose New York employer must prepare for the librarys probable sale by the philanthropic sponsors heirs, based on the land value given the lack of operational profit. Jake manages to bond with the kids and befriend Rachel, even taking her along on weekend trips on Barts trail and seeking her advice on being a favorite uncle. Yet for a romance to bloom beyond the summer-fling stage, the librarys fate remains a formidable obstacle, not to mention her Big Apple job versus his mobile career.
