Story: After selling his cattle in town, ranch owner Morgan unexpectedly dies, and his foreman Pike has to deliver the payroll to Sonora, despite the perilous journey during which hes followed by many shady characters who want the money.

Rugged trail boss and reformed criminal Pike (Jim Brown) promises his honest wealthy employer Morgan (Dana Andrews) that he will venture across the desert to deliver $86,000 dollars in payroll money to a ranch in Sonora, Mexico. Pike makes an uneasy alliance with smooth, yet shifty gambler Tyree (Fred Williamson) in order to successfully complete his dangerous mission. During their perilous trek Pike and Tyree encounter desperate prostitute Catherine (Catherine Spaak) and her loyal ace martial artist half-breed companion Kashtok (Jim Kelly). Meanwhile, ruthless bounty hunter Kiefer (Lee Van Cleef) and numerous greedy others give dogged chase.

To Kiefer (Lee Van Cleef), the deadly and pitiless bounty hunter, the law is the law--and when the affluent cattle farmer and landowner, Morgan (Dana Andrews), entrusts his honest right-hand man, Pike (Jim Brown), with the dangerous mission to deliver $86,000 to Mexico--suddenly, he decides to follow him. As Pike reluctantly joins forces with the silver-tongued gambler, Tyree (Fred Williamson), the word of the precious cargo spreads like wildfire, and now, every outlaw in the region is hot on their trail, bent on getting their hands on the treasure.
