Popular teenager Matt Norman, model big brother for Tommy, suddenly collapses in gym and is diagnosed with a rare congenital cardiac condition, requiring a heart transplant fairly soon, hard to find even with is high priority. Parents Mike and Ann Normans marriage is shaken as she sits endlessly by unconscious Matts hospital bed and prays like possessed, he remains introvert, even Tommy withdraws. The neighborhood Christmas gang pulls together rooting for Matt, even the local grump. Finally a matching heart is found, but terribly stormy weather may prevent flying it in timely, so it may be diverted elsewhere.
