Story: The wanted criminal Richard Bruno Riddick (Vin Diesel) arrives on a planet called Helion Prime and finds himself up against an invading empire called the Necromongers, an army that plans to convert or kill all humans in the universe.

Richard Bruno Riddick (Vin Diesel), now a hunted man, finds himself in the middle of two opposing forces in a major crusade. Lord Marshal () is a warrior priest who is the leader of a sect that is waging the tenth and perhaps final crusade five hundred years in the future. Aereon (Dame ) is an ambassador from the Elemental race. She is an ethereal being who helps Riddick unearth his origins.

Five years ago, escaped convict Richard Bruno Riddick (Vin Diesel) escaped from a desert planet with his two companions, religious man Abu "Imam" al-Walid (Keith David) and runaway teenage girl Jack (Rhiana Griffith). After five years wandering across the outskirts of the galaxy and being hunted by bounty hunters claiming the bounty on his head, Riddick arrives on the colonized planet New Mecca, he learns Imam placed the bounty on his head and Jack has been imprisoned on the prison planet "Crematoria" for murder. Riddick learns from Aereon (Dame Judi Dench), ambassador of the Elemental race, is seeking out Furians, a race of warriors in a bid to balance the universe, as a warrior army known as "The Necromongers", led by the evil undead Lord Marshal (Colm Feore),are invading every planet in the galaxy and cleansing all of humanity in their goal for universal conquest. Believing Riddick is a Furian warrior, Aereon decides to hire him, believing he is the one man who can stop the Lord Marshal and the Necromongers. When the Necromongers attack New Mecca, Riddick is captured by cocky bounty hunter Toombs (Nick Chinlund) and his crew, and he is transported to Crematoria, where he reunites with Jack, now named "Kyra" (Alexa Davalos). Riddick and Kyra escape to the planets sun-ravaged surface, where Riddick, helped by Necromonger warrior Vaako (Karl Urban) and his sexy wife Dame Vaako (Thandie Newton), sets out to defeat the Lord Marshal and save the universe from his rule and save the rest of humanity from being converted into Nercomonger warriors.
