Resigning his commission on the eve of his units deployment against Egyptian rebels, a British officer seeks to redeem his cowardice by secretly aiding his former comrades, disguised as an Arab. When his unit is overwhelmed and captured by the rebels, the hero finds an opportunity to return the "feathers" of cowardice sent to him by his former comrades by freeing them.
England, mid-1890s. On the eve of his regiment being sent to the war in the Sudan, Lieutenant Harry Faversham resigns his commission. His three closest friends in his unit duly each send him a white feather, a symbol of cowardice. His fiancée does the same. Distraught by this turn of events, Faversham sets out to Sudan to restore his honour.
