In the taut thriller The Shallows, when Nancy (Blake Lively) is surfing on a secluded beach, she finds herself on the feeding ground of a great white shark. Though she is stranded only 200 yards from shore, survival proves to be the ultimate test of wills, requiring all of Nancys ingenuity, resourcefulness, and fortitude.

A medical student, Nancy, takes some time off from her studies and heads to a secluded beach in Mexico to surf. While surfing she is attacked by a large shark, leaving her injured and stranded on a rock not too far out to sea. What follows is a battle of wits and wills between her and the shark.
