Episode Info: Inspired by domestic diva Martha Stewart during a book signing, Ellen throws an elegant dinner party at her apartment and invites everyone over (except Audrey whom she leaves to close up the bookstore). The attendees include Spence and his new actress girlfriend, Denise (whos stuck wearing Sci-Fi alien makeup), and Paige with her gay assistant, Barrett, who has a meeting of minds with Peter. But Ellens the one whos thrown for a spin when Joe arrives with Martha Stewart herself, and the dinner Ellen tries to cook turns out bad.

Story: Ellen Morgan is a neurotic bookstore owner who deals with life through comedy and extensive rambling.

Ellen Morgan (Ellen DeGeneres) is a neurotic thirtysomething bookstore owner who tries to get by in life dealing with her various friends, including outgoing redhead Paige Clark (Joely Fisher), insecure photographer Adam Green (Arye Gross), her own unsure-of-himself cousin Spence Kovak (Jeremy Piven), coffee-shop guy Joe Farrell (David Anthony Higgins), and critical and obnoxious Audrey Penney (Clea Lewis). Her biggest challenge is being around her annoying, overbearing parents, Lois (Alice Hirson) and Harold (Steve Gilborn).
