Episode Info: An assistant district attorney is killed when he finds a box man i.e. safecracker rifling through the attorneys office on a Sunday. The assistant DA was preparing to prosecute Matsukino, a local mobster. The key piece of evidence, a handgun, is now missing. McGarrett brings in Matsukino and his right-hand man, Cardonus. McGarrett does a bit of psychological game playing by letting Matsukino go and keeping Cardonus in the lawmans office. Story: The investigations of Hawaii Five-0, an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police answerable only to the governor and headed by stalwart Steve McGarrett.

Five-0 was a special state police unit answering only to the Governor of Hawaii. It worked with Honolulu police to fight the underworld in the island state. Sooner or later virtually all the bad guys heard Steve McGarrett grunt "Book em, Danno!" though chief bad guy Wo Fat was caught after MacArthur left the series.

Although based in Downtown Honolulu in the Iolani Palace, the men of Hawaii Five-0 are members of the Hawaii State Police, and are accountable to the Governor of Hawaii. Led by Steve McGarrett, its mission is to deal with "organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents, felonies of every type".
