Episode Info: Danny "Danno" Williams, while off-duty, pursues a gun-wielding crime suspect to the mans apartment. While shooting open the lock, Danny believes he inadvertently wounded the suspect fatally. Danny attends to the dying man whose drug-addicted girlfriend takes the gun which actually had been fired at Danny by another person and flees the apartment. Danny is soon indicted and jailed pending trial. McGarrett races to find the woman and exonerate Danny. It is later discovered that she is connected to Big Chicken, a smooth-talking formidable Honolulu drug dealer.

Story: The investigations of Hawaii Five-0, an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police answerable only to the governor and headed by stalwart Steve McGarrett.

Five-0 was a special state police unit answering only to the Governor of Hawaii. It worked with Honolulu police to fight the underworld in the island state. Sooner or later virtually all the bad guys heard Steve McGarrett grunt "Book em, Danno!" though chief bad guy Wo Fat was caught after MacArthur left the series.

Although based in Downtown Honolulu in the Iolani Palace, the men of Hawaii Five-0 are members of the Hawaii State Police, and are accountable to the Governor of Hawaii. Led by Steve McGarrett, its mission is to deal with "organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents, felonies of every type".
