Episode Info: During a high speed chase, a woman jumps from the car which the police had been chasing. McGarrett arrives to hear her dying words, "The ways of love." She was also somehow wearing a diamond earring that was part of a display of a foreign nations Crown Jewels which were stolen while in Hawaii a few days earlier. At the dead womans home, there is a letter addressed to Dave Barca, who is incarcerated in a California jail but who had been in Hawaii when the jewelry robbery occurred. McGarrett goes undercover, posing as another prisoner at the jail in California. ...

Story: The investigations of Hawaii Five-0, an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police answerable only to the governor and headed by stalwart Steve McGarrett.

Five-0 was a special state police unit answering only to the Governor of Hawaii. It worked with Honolulu police to fight the underworld in the island state. Sooner or later virtually all the bad guys heard Steve McGarrett grunt "Book em, Danno!" though chief bad guy Wo Fat was caught after MacArthur left the series.

Although based in Downtown Honolulu in the Iolani Palace, the men of Hawaii Five-0 are members of the Hawaii State Police, and are accountable to the Governor of Hawaii. Led by Steve McGarrett, its mission is to deal with "organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents, felonies of every type".
