Episode Info: Over McGarretts strong objections, the Governor orders him to allow Terri OBrien, a reporter for a popular new weekly magazine, to shadow him and the other members of Five-O for a story about their organization. As OBrien follows the developments of the kidnapping of a scientists two children, she becomes convinced that McGarrett has rushed to judge the culpability of a bus driver accused of the crime. Even as she argues with McGarrett about his decisions in the case, OBrien begins to investigate the case on her own.

Story: The investigations of Hawaii Five-0, an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police answerable only to the governor and headed by stalwart Steve McGarrett.

Five-0 was a special state police unit answering only to the Governor of Hawaii. It worked with Honolulu police to fight the underworld in the island state. Sooner or later virtually all the bad guys heard Steve McGarrett grunt "Book em, Danno!" though chief bad guy Wo Fat was caught after MacArthur left the series.

Although based in Downtown Honolulu in the Iolani Palace, the men of Hawaii Five-0 are members of the Hawaii State Police, and are accountable to the Governor of Hawaii. Led by Steve McGarrett, its mission is to deal with "organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents, felonies of every type".
