Episode Info: A state investigation centers on Mike Finney, a former racketeer who hasnt violated the law since moving to Hawaii nine years earlier. But Charles Irwin, an ambitious counsel for a state legislative committee, sees the probe as a way to further his political ambitions. For Five-O, the case begins when there is an apparent attempt on Irwins life. McGarrett, who knows Finney, is also a target of Irwin. Meanwhile, the "syndicate" on the mainland, nervous that Finney is being investigated, sends a hitman to Hawaii to kill Finney.

Story: The investigations of Hawaii Five-0, an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police answerable only to the governor and headed by stalwart Steve McGarrett.

Five-0 was a special state police unit answering only to the Governor of Hawaii. It worked with Honolulu police to fight the underworld in the island state. Sooner or later virtually all the bad guys heard Steve McGarrett grunt "Book em, Danno!" though chief bad guy Wo Fat was caught after MacArthur left the series.

Although based in Downtown Honolulu in the Iolani Palace, the men of Hawaii Five-0 are members of the Hawaii State Police, and are accountable to the Governor of Hawaii. Led by Steve McGarrett, its mission is to deal with "organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents, felonies of every type".
