Episode Info: McGarrett receives a call from a Skid Row bum who says he has vital evidence in a mainland case. When McGarrett and Danno arrive at the mans fleabag apartment, hes disappeared, with a trail of blood indicating he was robbed and shot but managed to escape. In his mattress, the investigators find some silver certificates which they recognize were used as ransom money in a mainland kidnapping eight years ago where the victim was murdered and the kidnappers escaped. In the interval, silver certificates were removed from circulation and are therefore now "hot money." ...

Story: The investigations of Hawaii Five-0, an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police answerable only to the governor and headed by stalwart Steve McGarrett.

Five-0 was a special state police unit answering only to the Governor of Hawaii. It worked with Honolulu police to fight the underworld in the island state. Sooner or later virtually all the bad guys heard Steve McGarrett grunt "Book em, Danno!" though chief bad guy Wo Fat was caught after MacArthur left the series.

Although based in Downtown Honolulu in the Iolani Palace, the men of Hawaii Five-0 are members of the Hawaii State Police, and are accountable to the Governor of Hawaii. Led by Steve McGarrett, its mission is to deal with "organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents, felonies of every type".
