Episode Info: A Russian musician is planning a concert using a priceless violin. After it is locked in the trunk of their car, three derelicts steal the car and strip it. Forcing the trunk open, they see the violin and decide to sell it to a violin teacher. Against McGarretts wishes, the Russian diplomats offer a $10,000 reward for the return of the violin. The punks steal the violin back and kill the teacher. They decide to ask $30,000 for the return of the violin, which the Russian quickly agree to. Story: The investigations of Hawaii Five-0, an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police answerable only to the governor and headed by stalwart Steve McGarrett.

Five-0 was a special state police unit answering only to the Governor of Hawaii. It worked with Honolulu police to fight the underworld in the island state. Sooner or later virtually all the bad guys heard Steve McGarrett grunt "Book em, Danno!" though chief bad guy Wo Fat was caught after MacArthur left the series.

Although based in Downtown Honolulu in the Iolani Palace, the men of Hawaii Five-0 are members of the Hawaii State Police, and are accountable to the Governor of Hawaii. Led by Steve McGarrett, its mission is to deal with "organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents, felonies of every type".
