Episode Info: Not knowing the Civil War is long over, a Confederate battalion defends an isolated canyon, as Gils drive approaches. Following the cattle drive is a U.S. cavalry squadron, dispatched to stop mysterious raids on local farms. The green, young cavalry dont know the raiders are CSA veterans who are well dug in and itchy for serious battle. The much older U.S. cavalry sergeant looks suspiciously familiar to drover Jim Quince, who fought under flamboyant rebel General Jeb Stuart.

Story: Gil Favor is trail boss of a continuous cattle drive. He is assisted by Rowdy Yates. The crew runs into characters and adventures along the way.

The story of a crew of cowhands driving a herd from San Antonio, Texas to Sedalia, Missouri. The cattledrive boss is Gil Favor (Eric Fleming); his right-hand is ramrod Rowdy Yates (Clint Eastwood). The scouts name is Pete Nolan (Sheb Wooley) and the cook on the drive is Wishbone (Paul Brinegar) . The cooks louse (scullion) is Mushy (James Murdock). Jim Quince (Steve Raines) and Joe Scarlet (Rocky Shahan) are drovers and Jesus "Hey Soos" Patines (Robert Cabal) is the wrangler. Together, this crew endures many adventures.

Gil Favor is the trail boss of a cattle drive. His and his drovers job is to drive cattle to market. This involves several hundred kilometres and several months of hard toil. Along the way they encounter all manner of trials, tribulations and adventures.
