Episode Info: Sydney and her classmates dont feel comfortable after their teacher assigned everyone in the class to write about historical figures based on their race, so they decide to elect Sydney as their spokesperson to talk to their teacher.

Story: Set in the present day with flashbacks to the 1990s, the comedy revolves around outgoing middle-schooler Sydney Reynolds, who lives with her single dad Max and her progressive grandmother Judy--three generations under one roof.

A heartwarming, sentimental comedy, "Sydney to the Max" centers around the experiences of sociable, goodhearted middle-schooler Sydney Reynolds and her protective, doting--and sometimes clueless--single dad Max as they navigate the challenges of growing up. Set during two time frames decades apart, flashback scenes to young Max and his best friend Leo in the 1990s parallel many of the funny predicaments Sydney and her BFF Olive get themselves into. VHS camcorders, bleached skater hair and other 90s-defining "relics" aside, Sydney and Max come to realize, aided by Sydneys kicky grandmother Judy, whos well-versed in Maxs childhood antics, that they have more in common than they think.
